Update on Creekside Project Progress

Hello to our dedicated disc golf community! We've noticed there's been a bit of chatter about the ongoing developments at Creekside. With this blog post, our aim is to provide a clearer picture, allay concerns, and answer any questions you might have about our beloved course.

Current State of Affairs: As with any dynamic project, the development at Creekside remains fluid. Adjustments are being made as the project progresses, but here's what we can confirm:

  • The course will be restored to its full 18-hole glory. There will be no additional holes or confusing designations like 15A or 18A.

  • A dedicated practice area is in the works, tailored exclusively for practice sessions.

  • For those who've been tracking layouts on UDisc, rest assured that updates will reflect the new design.

  • For the time being, there won't be any holes crossing the creek.

  • The proximity of the course to the school has been considered. The layout will ensure holes don't play atop the hill or encroach on the school's side. This ensures long term success with our new neighbors.

  • We're injecting some fresh energy with new holes, an improved flow, and the repositioning of some baskets to optimize the new layout.

  • While there will be changes, the heart and soul of "Creeky" remains untouched.

Upgrades in the Pipeline:

  • Larger tee pads are being introduced. They are 2x4 meters. We're still finalizing specifics for the two extended pads on hole 2 and current hole 5.

  • Brand new Orange MVP Portal v2 baskets will be installed, with the practice basket being black.

  • We're updating to new basket sleeves, though a few of the old ones will remain, installed within sprinkler boxes to keep the locks fresh.

  • Security gets an upgrade with new locks.

  • Fresh tee signs will guide players throughout the course.

  • Sixteen of our holes will feature new benches, with a couple of exceptions due to space constraints.

  • A comprehensive course directory sign will make navigation simpler for all.

  • For history enthusiasts, Salt Lake County will be introducing a sign that delves into the origins and significance of the course and the sport.

  • A bulletin board for community announcements and communications will be included to allow the public to post information.

  • Lost a disc? We're setting up a drop box for lost-and-found discs. More details on this will be shared soon.

Looking Ahead:

Come next year, Salt Lake County will be performing an irrigation overhaul. They plan to irrigate the entire course, not just the "grass holes". This will allow them additional tree plantings not only in the field where we've lost the most, but in the native areas as well, allowing us to further bio diversify the course.

Additionally, for our biking enthusiasts, they are considering adding a bike rack.

While changes are inevitable, it's clear that Salt Lake County is steering Creekside towards an exciting future. We request your patience and share in your excitement!

We remain committed to keeping you informed. Expect more updates as the project moves forward.

Stay tuned, and happy disc golfing!
